TOKOYO NO KUNI in Japanese mythology is the neverland, or a place of the dead, also called the land of endless nights. The literal translation is “the land of my late mother”.
The ascension to this mystical land has been well depicted by Arnau Montanyes as director and Ziyi Yang as performer in our “Featured Video” today. The aesthetic bedrock shots almost seem like a final farewell with the earth, before it’s going off to heavenly spheres in a silky red kimono and surrounded by fluffy clouds…
The track Tokoyo No Kuni bridges two cultures and is a collaboration between French producer Antoine Harispuru a.k.a. GOLDEN BUG and Japanese avant-garde artist Narumi Herisson, known as VEGA VOGA, who contributed the vocals and lyrics. Lionel Limiñana of the French duo The Limiñanas also participated in the composition of the track.
Tokoyo No Kuni and Variation sur 3 bancs feat. The Limiñanas were featured in the programme UNEARTHED #9, which was broadcast on 05/23/2022.
