THIS HAS TO STOP by ANIQO

Just six months after the release of her debut album BIRTH, ANIQO has shared a new single with us. THIS HAS TO STOP doesn’t come alone, however, but accompanied by a B-side titled LORD – and both titles speak from the soul of many of us. Those who already know the Hamburg-born singer and her dark psychedelic pop, and have listened to the lyrics more closely, know the straightforwardness and depth of her poetic output. In THIS HAS TO STOP, however, Anita Goß uses only a few words to hit the mark with her message.
The single is complemented by a video created by ANIQO. It illustrates the central theme with visual means, whereby the war images are probably to be understood as a comprehensive symbol for the general division, the countless conflicts and struggles that run through every area of our society right now.
Commenting on the double single, ANIQO wrote on her Facebook page: “…I scream and plead like on THIS HAS TO STOP. I cry and pray like on LORD. Making art and hoping for healing are my way through this desolate landscape. I didn’t think it would go on so fast after BIRTH. But what has to come out, has to come out…”
Both tracks were written and produced by Anita Goß in her home studio. Bass and guitar were contributed by Torsten Füchsel, piano and synths by lllia Vovk and drums by Alexander Lode. The recording, co-production and mixing was done by Dirk Feistel at STUDIOXBERLIN.
ANIQO’s titles FAKE and MUST SURRENDER (2021) were presented in the programme UNEARTHED #2, broadcast 09/13/2021. Her title BIRTH was presented in UNEARTHED #8, broadcast 04/25/2022.
