LYRICS:
I own nothin’ more than the ground that I set on
So I make myself comfortable cuz I’m the king of the earth
Sitting on my throne of dirt in “a wound this tinkin slums”
In a rain of a walkin-talking-ticking bombs
Monkey see Monkey do in your monkey suit
Monkey do Monkey see and you feel agree
There’ll be no “respite” for those who dream by night and dream by day
Soon be zombie keep on dreaming your life away.
I own nothin more than the ground that I set on, the ground that I set on
So I make myself comfortable cuz I’m the king of the earth
Sitting on my throne of dirt in “a wound this tinkin slums”
In a rain of a walkin-talking-ticking bombs
They say
Out, damn light
They say
Out, damn light
They say
Out, damn light
Out, damn light
Out, damn light
Out, damn light
Under the great illusion we can start again
Clearer and clearer that’s the stat we are in
Under the illusion we can begin again
Did you even notice “I’m a getting came awen(?)”
They say
Out, damn light
Out, damn light
Out, damn light
Out, damn light
Out, damn light
Out, damn light
ABOUT SOFA SURFERS
Sofa Surfers is an Austrian band consisting of Wolfgang Frisch, Markus Kienzl, Michael Holzgruber and Mani Obeya. Former member Wolfgang Schlögl left in 2014. The music of Sofa Surfers mixes elements of rock with electronic music and moves between dub, trip hop and acid jazz. The band made its breakthrough thanks to Richard Dorfmeister, also from Vienna, who released the track Sofa Rockers from the album Transit for Kruder & Dorfmeister on the highly acclaimed album The K & D Sessions.
ABOUT MANI OBEYA
Emmanuel Obeya is a dancer, singer, songwriter and choreographer who grew up in the UK. He has lived in Vienna since 2004 and is a member of the Austrian band Sofa Surfers.
ABOUT THE ALBUM SUPERLUMINAL
In contrast to their previous works, the Sofa Surfers were able to bring together all their different production experiences on “Superluminal” and bundle their working methods. Thus, the album sound evolved in a wide arc from electronic dub references to experimental soul music with a slightly psychedelic indie band feel. In addition, the Nigerian-British singer Mani Obeya helped the collective transform into a physically accentuated post-rock band. In terms of content, the songs on “Superluminal” contain clear political and social announcements, while also being poetic commentaries on our fast-paced times.
