TRACK OF THE DAY 08/30/2022:
SILENCE IS VIOLENCE by LEVIN GOES LIGHTLY
SILENCE IS VIOLENCE is the third track on the album NEO ROMANTIC by LEVIN GOES LIGHTLY, released on April 30, 2015 via Treibender Teppich Records. Written and arranged by Levin Stadler. Mixed by Thomas Zehnle, mastered by Ralf Milberg.
Actually also something for the category “New Discoveries”, although the discovery is a few weeks ago: Levin Stadler a.k.a. LEVIN GOES LIGHTLY from “Stuggi” (as some Stuttgarters affectionately call their city), sometimes also called the “Stuttgart Bowie”, delivered the song on the album Neo Romantic, which is our Track Of The Day today.
The album title reveals right away where it goes musically: in the direction of revival of the equally short as intense, dazzling and also influential music and fashion wave “New Romantic”. However, many other influences and elements resonate in the music of Levin Goes Lightly. Apart from the remarkable voice, which indeed sometimes reminds of Bowie, sometimes of Curtis – the characteristic sounds of current pop music, psychedelic elements of Kraut- and Spacerock, as well as typical post-punk guitars and bass lines can also be found in the music of Levin Goes Lightly.
Our track of the day, Silence Is Violence, with its driving drum machine, the somewhat apathetic vocals and a pretty synth line, seems like a breath of fresh air.
Other personal favorites of the album: Bell, Speedways, Perfume and Flowers… but actually the whole album is a definite recommendation.
