There is a perspicuous touch of Victorian nostalgia mixed in with mid 20th century chanson and coldwave in the appearance and sound of Ukrainian duo THE GLASS BEADS.
The sober alto voice of Marina Rublevskaya, who is also the songwriter and pianist, reminds of Hildegard Knef and Larissa Iceglass, while the instrumentation on Time To Time adds a sensation of delicate playfulness. This combination unavoidably elicits visions with movie scenes of unfinished romance and silent departure.
“Time To Time” is an album that demands time and undivided attention. Then it unfolds its emotional depth and its detailed and faceted beauty. Its cinematic atmosphere is made for bleak autumn Sundays spent in solitude with a glass of red wine.
Further contributors on “Time To Time” are Mark Arshynnikov (bass), Olha Havrylenko (violine), Atanas Bro (drums), Maxim Kolotusha (double bass) and Daria Bulhak (vibraphone).
With their title Music Box from their previous album Therapy, THE GLASS BEADS were featured in the UNEARTHED #3 broadcast from 11.10.2021.
